The MEC for Environment & Nature Conservation - Mrs Sylvia Lucas will kick off the World Environment month (WEM) celebrations in the province, starting with the World Environment Day on 05 June in Springbok and ending the celebration on the 28th June 2012 in Komaggas near Springbok.

The 2012 WEM is defined by the celebration of World Environment Day (5th June) World Oceans Day (8th June) and the World Day to Combat Desertification (17th June) and other activities that will be used to highlight environmental programmes which include youth day (June 16).
