MEC Manopole delivers on a promise of The Northern Cape Provincial Government
MEC Mase Manopole has challenged traditional leaders in John Taolo Gaetsewe District to continue to play a pivotal role in encouraging various communities, especially young people, to preserve our languages & culture.
MEC was speaking during the hand over ceremony of 30 Bonsmara cattle to five principal traditional leaders in Kuruman. The noble gesture was part of the Provincial Government's promise made to them by Premier Dr. Zamani Saul earlier.
In May 2024, Dr. Saul made a commitment on behalf of the provincial government, that all Senior Traditional Leaders who elevated to Principal Traditional Leadership status will receive donations from government in a form of 6 cattle each in an effort to ensure that our Traditional Leaders become self sustainable given the mammoth task undertaken in our communities.
During phase 1 & 2 of Elevation of Traditional Leaders in May 2024, the Premier handed cattle to 2 Principal Traditional Leaders. Today, MEC Manopole handed over 30 Bonsmara cattle to the remaining Principal Traditional Leaders. Each one got 6 cattle.
MEC Manopole emphasized that good working relations between government and traditional leaders will always yield a positive result. Meanwhile NC House of Traditional Leader Chairperson, Kgosi Pelonomi Toto stressed lack of grazing land as a challenge. Kgosi Toto however welcomed the good gesture from government.
The hand over ceremony was attended by the JTG District Executive, Mayor Queen Mogatle-Thoane, CEO of JTG Developmental Trust Mr Tumelo Mpolokeng accompanied by other delegation
