MEC MANOPOLE INVITES THE PUBLIC TO VISIT A PROVINCIAL NATURE RESERVE DURING THE MAHALA (FREE) WEEK.
FROM 30 September to 10 October 2022, the Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform, will open their nature reserves for free (Mahala) as part of the annual Open Week Celebrations.
MEC Mase Manopole has called on the public to use the opportunity by visiting any of the Provincial Parks in the Northern Cape.
“As a Province, we pride ourselves in our mission to conserve the Northern Cape's biodiversity, and maintain and restore ecological integrity through our five nature reserves, namely Goegap, Oorlogskloof, Rolfontein, Doornkloof and Witsand. In this reserves, our visitors will have the opportunity to get closer to nature with outdoor activities such as bike riding, swimming, game viewing, hiking and so much more,” said MEC Manopole.
In line with the continued spirit of heritage month, the initiative is meant to unite families, communities, connecting them with their natural spaces and landscapes.
Those interested in visiting the nature reserves during the Mahala Week should note that free access does not include accommodation facilities and other tourist experiences.
“Once again, I invite resident in and outside the Province, who have never visited a nature reserve, to take the opportunity to do so during the open week,” said MEC Manopole.
