DEPARTMENT SADDENED BY THE DEATHS OF THREE FARM WORKERS AFTER BEING STRUCK BY LIGHTNING
The Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform, is saddened by the death of three farm workers while five others sustained injuries after they were struck by lightning in three separate incidents in Barkley West, outside Kimberley.
The incident happened at one of the farms in the area. The deceased, who were all male, were 19, 26 and 51 years of age respectively. The Department wishes the five injured a speedy recovery.
The Department is making a passionate plea to all role players to practice precautionary measures during thunderstorms and avoid touching electrical equipments. Police investigations are underway. END
