The Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development will hold a two day workshop on the 26-27 at Kimberley in the Francis Baard District.

The purpose of the workshop is sensitize and to orientate the provincial agricultural stakeholders on the aims and roles of Comprehensive Agricultural Development Programme. (CAADP)  

The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) started the process of implementing the CAADP in South Africa after the Maputo resolutions. One of the key elements of CAADP’s implementation is stakeholder engagement and public participation through the establishment multi-party Provincial CAADP Task Teams.

The workshop will contribute in strengthening inclusive dialogue across the various players and stakeholders, including civil society, private sector at provincial and local level.
It is expected that this consultation will agree on a provincial task team to lead the elaboration on the provincial strategies and clarify investment financing possibilities a well as broader implications and value of undertaking the CAADP implementation process.

It is against this background that the Department of Agriculture, land Reform and Rural Development inconjuction with DAFF, Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and Nepad Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) will be holding a consultation workshop.
