Previous Female Entrepreneurs Awards winners have encouraged women to be consistent and determine to succeed in farming.

This has emerged at a workshop aimed at empowering women in Jan Kemp Dorp in the Phokwane Municipality.

The purpose of the workshop was to share wisdom and experience, to encourage, enlighten each other in agriculture, and also to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Most women are also participants in the Female Entrepreneur Awards 2017, whilst for some is for the first time they enter the competition.

The Female Entrepreneur Awards (FEA) gives women a platform to compete amongst themselves across the province, before the winners contest with their national counter-parts in August.

The FEA is an annual event, striving to acknowledge the contribution of women, young women and women with disabilities in the sector through food security, job creation, economic growth and poverty alleviation.
This through leveraging entrepreneurs from being a subsistence to commercial farmers.

The overall 2016 Provincial Female Entrepreneur Awards winner, Ms Maria Kantwan outlined the significant of having a registered business, including very detailed documents into your entry as well as thorough marketing enterprise and its activities.

The workshop was organised by the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development - about 25 women attended the workshop. End
