The MEC for Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms. Mase Manopole, will launch the Rabies Awareness Drive in Galeshewe, Kimberley on Thursday, 1st of October 2020.
 
With this year’s theme; “End Rabies: Collaborate, vaccinate”, there is general call upon all stakeholders to join hands and collaborate in their efforts to eliminate the dog-mediated human rabies by 2030 (“Zero-by-30”).
 
The theme is a reminder that we have 10 years to end human deaths from dog rabies and that we can raise awareness at the global level.
 
The awareness campaign will kick off on Wednesday, 30th of September 2020, at the Galeshewe Circle, with the distribution of flyers to create awareness to the community about Rabies disease and its management.
 
On October 1, the MEC will launch the Rabies Awareness Drive at the Galeshewe Circle at 9h00.
 
The event will be preceded by the MEC’s visit to Kimberley SPCA, Kimberley Veterinary Clinic, Vets 4 All and the Belgravia Veterinary Clinic from 8h00 to donate rabies vaccines, in order for the Vets to offer free rabies vaccination to the clients who bring in their pets.
 
The Rabies Awareness Drive will be wrapped up on the 9th October 2020, were a Rabies vaccination of pets will take place at the Mayibuye Center starting from 8h00.
