“TARGET FARMER GROUPS TO APPLY FOR COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT PROGRAMME AND ILLIMA/LETSEMA GRANT FUNDING”
The Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform is challenging the target farmer groups such as the Subsistence, the Smallholder and the Black Commercials to apply for the Comprehensive Agricultural Support and Ilima/Letsema Grant.
The Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (CASP) Grant seeks to provide effective agricultural support, and to streamline the provision of service to the targeted beneficiaries of Land Reform; Restitution and Redistribution as well as other black producers especially those who have acquired land through private means and engaged in value-adding enterprises domestically or involved in export.
Meanwhile the Ilima/Letsema Grant strive to assist vulnerable South African farming communities to achieve an increase in agricultural production. Thus as farming communities will able to feed their families and sell the surplus to the market so as to increase household income.
- The type of support provided for by the Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (CASP) grant covers the following pillars:
On and Off farm infrastructure, - Information and knowledge management,
- Technical; advisory services and regulatory services,
- Marketing and business development support,
- Farmer training, skills development and capacity building
Whereas the type of support for Ilima/Letsema grant entails production inputs, mechanization and the irrigation Infrastructure.
The Department is calling on Subsistence, Smallholder as well as Black Commercial Farmers to submit the following:
- Request letter
- In case of leases, land owner title deed to be attached
- Tribal Authorities to apply in case of communal areas, where applicable
- Previous funding history will be required
- Certified copies of required identity documents must be valid for at least three months
- Due to the drought situation livestock applications will not be acceptable
- In case of municipal commonages only lease agreements will be acceptable
- In the absence of water use entitlements, three months valid water account from the water users association can be attached,
- Three months valid certified copy of a title deed print out will be acceptable
- Three months valid certified copy of the livestock identification mark certificate will be acceptable
Farmers are requested to visit all our five District offices to get more information on how to access these grant funding as no late, faxed, emailed or unsigned applications will be accepted.
