The MEC of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform Mase Manopole met with farmers and farming representatives in Blocuso, Keimoes to discuss the recent hemp production regulations systems.
The MEC encouraged local farmers and manufacturers to participate in the industrialisation and commercialisation of hemp in order to increase economic growth, create jobs and alleviate poverty in the province.
“The production and commercialisation of cannabis sativa has been at the forefront of national debate and ontop of the agenda of policymakers nationally and globally. I know we are a very rich province and I urge farmers to reap economic opportunities in the industry,” she said.
The workshop provided farmers with timely information on the national cannabis market, particularly on hemp production, regulation, cultivation and the multitude of potential uses for the crop.
